Grief culture at work

I destigmatise grief — so working together gets lighter.

If grief were private

By that logic, we couldn’t celebrate a birthday at work either.

About me

My name is Christina Gippert.

My mission is to destigmatise grief and make it speakable in society — and to enable people to truly support each other. For years I’ve accompanied people through pivotal life phases — and increasingly their employers too.

Working with me

What you gain

A workplace where people feel comfortable produces four tangible effects:

Critical Thinking

Reduced absenteeism

A lived grief culture supports leaders in handling themselves, grieving colleagues and the rest of the team well — which reduces absenteeism.

FInd A Solution

Stronger commitment

A grief culture strengthens team cohesion and individual wellbeing — and through that, employee motivation.

Personality

Higher performance

Employees who sense they are valued „in good times and in hard ones“ are more satisfied, more engaged and work more efficiently.

Empathy

Lower turnover

Destigmatising grief at work and a lighter way of being together has a positive effect on employee retention.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Isn't grief a private matter?

Wouldn’t joy then also be private? Birthdays, weddings, the birth of a child — we happily share them at work. Can you really leave your emotions at the door like a suitcase when you switch on your computer? Many people spend more time with colleagues than with family. Grief belongs where people are.

What's in it for my company?

Three things: employee retention and loyalty, a distinctive edge in a market where almost no one has clear protocols for these situations, and lower costs through fewer sick days and less turnover.

Aren't our workplace health measures enough?

In conversations I keep hearing the same thing: burnout prevention is on the agenda, but how to handle loss and grief is not — and everyone tiptoes around it. That’s exactly where I come in: with knowledge of the nervous system and concrete tools, so fear and uncertainty are taken out of the way.
